Brief History
Ballyvongane N.S. is a two-teacher rural school situated in the townland of Bealnamorrive 4 miles North-East of Macroom, Co. Cork
The original school, was built in 1845 and was refurbished in 1995 for it’s 150 year anniversary.
In 2007, an extension, consisting of a new classroom, Resource room, Staff room, Principal’s Office and toilets was completed.
One of the old classrooms was also refurbished and now serves as a General Purposes Room.
The Extension was officially opened by Batt O’Keeffe, who was then Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, on Friday, September 24th, 2010
